Knowledge sharing is at the centre of our customers’ and partners’ challenges
Like many markets, the business travel sector is being revolutionised by new technology and the advent of disruptive offerings. Businesses and partners can make the most of this transformation by having a thorough understanding of the value added by each stakeholder, and, above all, of the interactions between different stakeholders (businesses, distributors, technology platforms). Traveldoo will launch a customer consultation in 2017 to promote the sharing of knowledge and ideas in our industry to drive performance.
An increasingly vast and increasingly connected ecosystem
Year on year, technology vendors and specialist business travel providers are growing their partner networks. For example, Traveldoo is pleased to have welcomed 3 new hotel providers and additional low-cost providers this year… Relations between stakeholders are becoming richer and more complex. A hotel platform has recently announced integration with GDS to enrich its content… several months after making its content available to the same GDS.
The pace of change is increasing
Like all sectors undergoing major digitalisation, the change of pace is increasing… Businesses have taken several years to adopt low-cost offers in their travel policies. Today’s disruptive changes – particularly in alternative accommodation bookings – are now integrated in a matter of months, if not weeks. Here too, detailed knowledge of these changes is a real challenge.
The devil is in the details
New airline pricing structures or new offers are provided by technology partners; so how to make sure that these changes are taken into account throughout the distribution chain (GDS, consolidators, etc.) and that they are ultimately visible to the end user? For example, airlines’ “hand-luggage only” offers took several months to become available across all distribution channels.
The consultation we are conducting is intended to make knowledge sharing more fluid. It needs to be productive, digital and collaborative or it can’t happen at all.
